Vampire ponies reference sheet

IMPORTANT: Do Minor (Cristina's ponysona) is here just because asked in baby voice and I couldn't resist. Her destiny in the story isn't set in stone, and I may do some more art with her as other kinds of ponies, so, don't get all that excited. xD

It qualify as one of Sol Major's wishful thinkings, if you want. xD

The vampire ponies. Right.

I did this drawing of Sol Major for personal reference and consistence and I wouldn't post here, but after Do Minor was added just for the kicks, I wanted to share them with you. I'll also paste here a detailed description of how vampire ponies work in the ponyfied Conservatory universe (I wrote it for future reference). Why? Because I want to, that's why. Sit down and listen, younglings.

For random arts and random strips, there is no need of a detailed description of vampire ponies. They are ponies, they drink blood, that's all. But, when I started to make ponyfied scenes from The Conservatory, I made myself a mental challenge to ponyfy the concept of vampire I worked in the book.

On the bright side, the world of the ponies is much more magical than the human world, so, I had much more freedom to be creative on the vampire's design.

On the other side, the show already has a kind of vampiric creature, the changelings, and bat-like ponies, the Luna Guard. It would be hard to create a vampire that is significantly different from a changeling or a bat pony, and I didn't want to use show creatures because I wanted a little more freedom with the characters.

After many elaborations, I came with the design I'm happy with, and with a backstory that made me happy, because it's a good equivalent from Conservatory's vampires.

Basically, in my ponyfied universe, changelings are the equivalent of psy-vampires (the feed on love, after all, not material things). Vampire ponies are mist-like creatures that need actual blood to prevent their bodies to dissolve into mist definitely (altough they can do that willingly for short periods of time). Their kind of indefinite body helps them to shapeshift easily, and the blood they drink give them the powers of their victims (like I said here: strixvanallen.deviantart.com/a….

The mist form is the one they got when they are unconscious or using mental tricks to empty their minds or under spells that reveals their true nature. They consider they true form the one that they revert to without much thinking - usually, it's the form they had when they turned + red eyes, but that can change, if they change the way they perceive themselves.

Their weaknesses are some metals, that can hurt their material bodies (everything else will heal quickly). The metal changes from vampire pony from vampire pony - Sol's one is nickel, Crimson's and Scarlet's one is silver. They are weak against a special brand of solar magic, that can affect their mist form, too, but they are not weak against solar light per se (they are nocturnal because it's easier to hunt at night, not because they are hurt by the sun). Vampire ponies have some allergies that won't kill them, but can slow them down. (Sol's allergy is common garlic, for instance, but it's only him.)

To turn into a vampire pony, the pony has to drink blood from one of them. I didn't use reproduction via a single bite and/or death by draining because Math already prove it's both impossible and a little idiotic as a survival strategy - just imagine the havoc it would ensue if every mouse killed by a cat turned into a cat: mouses would go extinct quickly and all the cats would starve to death.

Phew, that's it. Like I said, I was pretty happy with how this turned out. Maybe I'll do some comics using that idea. If I have time (which I doubt I'll have x.x).
